Constructed based on the board game of the same name. Aeroplane Chess is a cross-and-circle board game that originated in China, which requires 2 to 4 players in a round of game. There are 4 sets of coloured (red, yellow, blue and green) starting hangars in each corners and airplane pieces.


The performance of this piece requires 4 instrumental groups of the same size. The pitches and keys are selected, based on the words of Aeroplane Chess, in which there are 4 notes A, C, E, H (known as B in German) in the title. Each colour represents 4 different basic chord types: Major (Yellow), Minor (Red), Augmented (Blue), Diminished (Green). Each performer/group of performers have their particular colour region Yellow, Blue, Green, Red, and play only the notes belonging to their colours. In this piece, all the performers are doing improvisation based on the given pitches and harmonies.
