Performed by Vertixe Sonora
It is a composition based on the idea of turning back time and morse code.
There are two phrases will be emphasised in the piece, which are ‘Turn Back’ and ‘Rewind’. All the letters of two phrases are translated to the morse code, and use them as rhythmic patterns. In the simple time section (Part I, II), each unit of a morse code cost a eighth note , while 3 units (a dash) of a morse code cost a triplet. In the compound time section (Part III), each unit of one morse code cost an eighth note, and 3 units (a dash) of a morse code cost 3 eighth notes.
Some of the pitches played by Oboe are selected, based on the phrases of ‘Turn Back’ and ‘Rewind’, in which there are 5 notes E, D, B, A & C. These 5 notes are transformed to 5 different numbers: 4, 2, 11, 9, 0 respectively under set theory. Those numbers are also translated to morse code, and become the rhythmic pattern of some parts of electric guitar, and the numbers are combined as the BPM of the piece.
This piece consists of 3 sections, which represent the 3 different effects of turning back time.
